We went to Science City at Union Station!

Yesterday we went to Science City. We went all the way from Lawrence to Kansas City. It was quite worth the trip, and 2 of my friends were going too! There were lots of exhibits that we got to see and play.
There was one that we went to first, the mysterious Mr. E hotel. There were lots of optical illusions, and things that played tricks with your eyes. One example was that there was a sign and a red line was sort of flashing, but once you shook your head it would appear as a target then after a minute it would look like a question mark. There was another cool one. You need to stare at the circle that was spinning, for 20 seconds. Then look at something and it looks all fuzzy. There was a desk exhibit. You needed to find the most unusual places that open, though you don't think they open when you find out it does.
There is another exhibit, it's called a sky bike and it is on a rope. Then your supposed to ride on it and find out why you aren't falling. You can also tilt it and still stay on the bike, it was really cool!
The water exhibit was also nice, only I didn't play in it. My little brother did, because it was for younger kids.
There was an art studio where you could paint neon glow in the dark paintings. You could create any type of picture that you wanted, and take it home after you let it dry for about 45 minutes in the museum.
Another attraction was the nature center, it had a few animals you've never seen before. There were 2 parrots, a few parakeets, frogs, turtles, a gecko, rabbits, and much more! One cool thing about one of the parrots is that it can say "Hello".
One after another, we went to the tree house. It showed you different types of birds and the songs or sounds that bird made. There was also a wobbly bridge that you could walk on, my little brother liked it very much.
We also visited the magnet discovery area. The staff member would be there to show you how to experiment with them, and you could find out why it was doing that. Though there aren't alot of people that like or want to try.
I don't know if my little brother went to the kinder lab or not, but it was for kindergarteners. And I'm not a kindergartener, so I really don't know what it's like.
There was also a power exhibit. They would let you make power in different ways for different things that needed that power. [But of course, the things that needed power were just for you to look at] Some ways to power it was by biking to run the light bulb, running to run the light, and turning the handle to run a small model of the city.
There was also a place where you could see how things looked like when they went backwards by turning the wheel. There was also a lever that you could pull and see how force works. They would also let you test out balls that have different weights, and test them on different tracks.
I really dislike the place where you learn the history of trains. The train doesn't really let you do anything, but guess what, there are 2 moving trains and my brother just won't stop looking at it.
One of my favorites is the place where it can take picture of your shadow and you can see that your shadow looks different, from your real self.
There was also just a play place. A regular indoor playground, that almost nobody played in. We only played there for a while at the end.
We also went to this place where you had to find 5 different ways to play music. I only found 3 because nothing else looked like it could play music or could play music.
The space attraction was nice too! You got to see what your weight would be on the moon, try to land a space shuttle, what it looked like in the rocket ship or space shuttle, and different facts about different things in space.
My friend went to the dino exhibit, but I only took a look. There was a place that you could find fossils, and look at a model of a dinosaur.
Well I hope you go to science city and look around! Hope you enjoyed!

Another Swim Night!!!!

This evening instead of going to church we went swimming! It was AWESOME!!! This time we went to the out-door pool.
I learned to swim in just 2 weeks, and I know the: Elementary back stroke, Back stroke, and I can almost do Front crawl/Free style, and Breast stroke. These are the tricks I can do: Touch the floor, starfish float, canon float, jellyfish float, and all the kicks and other floats. [Some of the those thing I can do in the water my mom can't] I think I improved alot.
This time since we went to the out-door pool the slide was different, I thought it looked too scary and didn't go on it. The shower area wasn't better one bit. You had to wear your bathing suit while showering. I'll tell you why. There were 2 bathing places connected to each other and nothing blocking the middle. The showering part of the stall had a curtain. The curtain only covered 3/4 of the place you were in. Another thing was that you couldn't even select a temerature! It was plain cold and it didn't feel good. The ground was dirty and was made of cement. I think that the indoor pool was better than the one out-door.
This time the pool doesn't have a bleachy scent like the indoor one, and the park has more obstacles. Like the water gun. And it has a ramp that goes from the deep side to the shallow side. It's also warmer because the sun is there and it won't be that freezing once you get out of the pool.
When  I got in the pool it was really cold and I wanted to get out, but if I got out then I would never get used to the water. Then after it felt ok in the shallow side I got out and jumped into the deep side. Once I got in I started to do free style and breast stroke. I also did some of my floats and tricks! Then me and my parents decided we would go into the lanes so we could do both of the back strokes. After a while, my dad went to go bath, then my grandpa and little brother went along too. Me and my mom decided we would swim just for 2 more minutes and then take a bath. Of course the bathing place wasn't that nice, but we managed to get going. What another day at the pool!

Swimming!!!

Today I'm just going to give you a small passage about what I did at swimming class today.
First, I got ready and I was on my way to swimming class. It was the last class, and we were going on the water slide at the very end of class! And I found out something suprising!
When it was 12:00 we started our lesson and worked our way to success! We always do bobs first [you stick your head in the water and hold your breath], then we did the ring game. The teacher threw the rings, and we would swim over and get it then swim back to the teacher, so we could give it to her and let the next person go.
When the girl before me was going I practiced my freestyle. I ended up doing it correctly! WoW!
Then we go to the deep end. It is soooooo deep there. [it's 3 times or more my height] Of course if you are not comfortable they let you wear a life jacket. We float there because we need to feel what will happen if there is an emergency and we need to swim or float.
Then it was time for the......WATER SLIDE!!!! We had to wait for the life guards to turn the water on and then we got to go on. I was soooo excited and scared, I screamed a little bit at first and then I ended up laughing! It was soooooo cool. I went on it 4 times in like 1 min, then we had to leave.
My mom was super proud of me because I over came my fear. We got our certificate and it said we could enter level 3!!! After I was done washing we went home and I started writing this post/blog for you to read.
That is my little passage I want to tell you. Thanks!

My Dream pt1

One night I had 2 dreams, and the first one had to do with my hamster: Marshmallow. You must read my other post if you do not know her. Well, it all started when I woke up [in my dream]. I found out there were 3 hamsters in the hamster cage. I couldn't believe my eyes! I had 2 new hamsters named: Brownie, and Ice Cream. They were cute though very mischievous.
We had to put them on my brothers train table because 3 was alot to keep in 2 hands. Each liked different foods. I put a bunch in though Each hamster only ate 1 type or 2 types of food. they all wanted food first so I fed them in my hand. It was funny.
And when ever I put my hand there they would all go for my hand and try to get on. If it was my mom, then only Brownie and Marshmallow would run to her hands. If it was my dad only Marshmallow and Ice Cream would go to his hand. And my brother and grandfather wouldn't go try to touch. With friends it was different, the three hamsters would just hide from them.
Marshmallow was the first hamster. She knows every one better, though Brownie and Ice Cream were still getting ready. I think Marshmallow was my favorite. It's hard to decide when they are all SO CUTE!!!! Then the sad part was that Marshmallow died and after a half a year the others did too. It was so sad I couldn't believe my eyes. and now that happend in real life.

I Really Really Really Want A Cat

Dear Mom and Dad,
You got me a hamster named Marshmallow, then she died, you got me a hamster named Hershey, then she died. And the same with C.C and Lollipop. I really want a dog. I love pets. This is a big opportunity. A new dog could be the sweetest and cutest animal you've ever seen. If we spend time with him, all our electronic time would be used. I would feed him and play with him and do everything with him. I will also give him water. I won't forget to do the things I'm supposed to do. I already took super good care of my mice and hamsters!  I know you'll have a little spark inside saying, "Sophie is responsible, she can do it" . You're probably saying we will have to feed him 3 or 2 times a day, we will have to get him a litter box, we will have to give him attention, we will have to get him a toy, we will have to find him a place to sleep, we also have to let him on the bed, and we will spend a lot of money, and lots of other things. And I see why there can't be a "yes" to this "want" situation, And I know it's hard. Though I just want you to feel how much I want it, and I know why you guys will not let me have one, but I just want a chance to play with a bigger animal/pet and have some fun.
Your daughter who understands you don't have to agree,
Sophie

Good bye, Marshmallow

During the past few days, Marshmallow behaved abnormal. She did not sleep much during the day and she bit us a lot. Yesterday morning, I found her dead. Both Sophie and I are very sad, we miss her a lot. Although she was just with us for a month, we are so used to greet her every morning, play with her during the day, say good night to her everyday. Sophie is too sad to write this blog, so I am doing it. Maybe we won't have a hamster for a long time because we just miss our own Marshmallow.

"Hopscotch" Designs!

I am a very creative person! I love to do lots of types of art. Are you that kind of person then I think "Hopscotch" is a perfect app that you can use. I'll tell you why.
"Hopscotch" is about programing so you can make a project that others can try to play or watch. It lets you use different types of computer blocks that make the object do what you want it to do. Some of the blocks tell the object how to do it, some tell where the object do it the action, and some can even be programmed to draw the object! Once you're done and publish it, people can star or like if they think it's cool or funny or if they just like it. One last detail, it lets you be creative and use your imagination.
One day my mom told me she got a new app for me. I found out that it was a programing app called "Hopscotch". Since I didn't know how and what to do, my mom showed me how and what to do. After, we looked at some other projects other people made. Then I came up with an idea and started working on it. I was making a Chile flag. I needed to make the recipe so it can do exactly everything I want it to do, in which ever order I want.
My mom showed me what uses were the blocks for. I started working on my project, Some of the blocks I used were: set speed to, set line color to, set line width, set value........to, move with trail distance, change value...... by, and lots more!
Then I published my program, it will let you name your program and let you design your "Hopscotch" name. Once I published I got 3 stars in just 1/2 a minute! That's how you know if it is a good program or a not-so-well made. And if you don't have an idea you can look at the idea of the week by a group called the "Hopscotch Team". They will let you remix their idea and call it your own.
Now that you know what "Hopscotch" is sort of like you can download the app on your ipad and try it out yourself. Just be creative anything will do, just try to make some thing you want to do. Try ''Hopscotch"!

My Roborovski Hamster Named: Marshmallow

I have a super cute little hamster! Her name is marshmallow I got her on 6/26/2014. We were going to "Checkers" (a grocery store) and I saw this store called "Pet World". I've always wanted a pet, no matter how big or how small. And finally I asked if we could go look at the pets..... And they said yes! When we were checking out, one of my friends from Maryland called. {I just moved from Maryland to Kansas a couple of weeks ago}Her name was Grace/Bojie. I was sooooooo happy to talk to my friends!
We got to "Pet World"! It was so cool! The parrots cage had no roof! Neither did the other animals have any roof to their cage either! There were small amphibians and mammals! Like porcupines, chinchillas, and iguanas, not like the pet store in Maryland. And as always there are....fish. I told my friend all about it, but her mom said since we were at the pet store, we should enjoy looking at them. The time came when we were almost about to leave. My mom asked me if I wanted to hold a roborovski/robo hamster. I said yes, and she helped me pick her up.
My mom said they were sooooo cute and asked if I wanted one. I said Yes PLEASE!!!!!! Though she said if daddy also agrees we can get it. I asked him and he didn't look so sure, but said yes anyway. I was soooooo happy! I went to go ask a staff member and she helped us get all our things ready. The food, chew blocks, and tips to help us take care of the hamster. We didn't get the cage though, because my mom said that we can use a plastic box that we store our clothes in. The staff member told us one last thing. She told us she was 6 months old, then we went to check out.
When we got home I found out how to make bedding for her, gave her a name, gave her the chew blocks, made her a tunnel, a place to drink water, a place to eat and we got her a wheel a week  after that.
Now I teach her tricks! She is sooo energetic. I researched again and found out she is the smallest and fastest dwarf hamster, and that you don't need to get a bag of hamster food, just some regular human food! Now I even put posts up about her, like this blog. I was very amazed by how quickly she learned her name!
I am pretty lucky to have a pet like her! Don't you think?
